Holland & Barrett – Electrical Refurbishment & Fit-Out

Project Overview

We were contracted to deliver the complete electrical refurbishment and fit-out for a new Holland & Barrett retail unit in Dundee’s Overgate shopping centre. The project required a full upgrade of electrical systems to meet current regulations, while also achieving strict branding, energy efficiency, and quality standards. With a fast-track retail programme in place, we ensured all works were delivered efficiently, with seamless coordination alongside shopfitting and signage teams.

Objectives

  • Complete a full electrical refurbishment and fit-out within the three-week programme.
  • Deliver energy-efficient lighting solutions aligned with Holland & Barrett’s national specification.
  • Integrate power, data, and access control systems to support retail operations.
  • Ensure all systems were fully certified and compliant with BS 7671 and retail safety standards.

Scope of Works

  • Strip-out of existing electrical systems.
  • New power and data cabling installation, including CCTV infrastructure.
  • Energy-efficient LED track lighting installed in branded layouts.
  • General and small power distribution to retail displays and counters.
  • Emergency lighting installed in accordance with BS 5266 standards.
  • Door access modifications and integration.
  • Data cabling and comms cabinet installation.
  • Final testing, commissioning, and NICEIC certification.

Project Challenges

The project required delivery within a very short three-week timeframe to align with Holland & Barrett’s retail programme. Our team worked in close coordination with the shopfitting contractor, signage installers, and other trades to ensure smooth progress and avoid delays. A major priority was maintaining strict adherence to the client’s brand specifications, particularly with lighting and power layouts, while also ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards.

OUTCOME

The new Holland & Barrett store was completed on time, fully operational, and ready for public opening. Our efficient delivery and attention to detail ensured the fit-out met the client’s expectations, combining compliance, energy efficiency, and brand consistency to create a high-quality retail environment.
